Rainbow School Steelpan Ensemble
performs for 'LETSEMA'

The Rainbow School Steelpan Ensemble, an all-female group featuring young women who got together just over two months ago, performed for LETSEMA - the University of Botswana's 25th Anniversary celebration.  With stilt walkers and several other groups, the artistes all came together to commemorate the historic event held at the university's stadium in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana.

This is only the second public engagement outside the school for the ensemble of Form One students.  Their first was their appearance at Mogoditshane Village just outside Gaborone, when they responded to an invitation by the Cheshire Foundation on February 24, on the occasion of their annual fundraising sponsored walk.

It was about 1600 hrs when the ensemble took the stage at the recent anniversary celebration, following the presentation of the SOS Children's Village Marimba Band.  Presently the only all-female steelband in Botswana, the young ladies presented a repertoire that included:-  We Shall Overcome, (in calypso tempo); Amazing Grace (also in kaiso tempo); Ole' and Time to say Goodbye.
