Desperadoes New York
Concert Rescheduled

KC now says August 19 & 20
are big dates to keep

New York- Sunday 16 July was going to be another big day in the New York summer pan scene, with Desperadoes expected to perform at KC's Hideaway in Brooklyn, New York.  However, KC has told When Steel Talks that the legendary Trinidad & Tobago steel orchestra's appearance is now rescheduled to August 19 & 20, 2006 - the same dates when another Trinidad and Tobago historical heavyweight, Starlift steel orchestra - is also expected to headline at the venue.

Show promoter KC, explained that issues had developed with getting the band to New York on time for the Sunday gig - at least the entire thirty-member stageside.  Admitting to what was an error of confirmation on his part, KC says that he may not have made it clear to the airline that he wanted what amounted to a confirmed booking for the Desperadoes musicians.  The result, the promoter says,  was that about half of the band could be accommodated on the airline on Friday July 14 to New York, but the other half would have been in New York on Sunday - the actual day of the show, and too late for their scheduled showtime.

Despite this setback, KC is confident that the combined impact of Desperadoes appearing with Starlift in August, is a winning draw.  Asked what was Desperadoes' reaction to the postponement of their Sunday performance, KC said that he had spoken to them shortly before chatting with When Steel Talks, and that the orchestra welcomed the opportunity to appear with another Trinbago band on New York soil.  Also on the bill and appearing with the Trinbagonian steel orchestras for the August shows are Pantonic, CASYM, Sonatas and Crossfire steel orchestras all from New York.

KC also expressed confidence that the August 19 & 20 dates were additionally "free and clear," and that there were no conflicts in the calendar with the New York pan community.  He lamented that he could not understand efforts, which had seemed to him, to have been a deliberate attempt by members of some of the New York pan fraternity and pan association, to 'draw people away from the originally-scheduled July 16 performance of Desperadoes.'  His view is that Trinidad and Tobago is the 'home of pan,' and with one of the legendary bands from that country - Desperadoes - scheduled to perform, he was disappointed by what appeared to him to be a concerted effort to undermine their potential concert audience.

KC pointed fingers specifically at Dem Stars, saying that the band's leader who is also the president of the pan association, had publicized an event at minimum cost, in direct conflict with Desperadoes' advertised July 16 performance at the hideaway.

Pan enthusiasts who already have their tickets at this point in time, for Sunday's show, will be able to present those same tickets at the gate on the August date of their choosing - Saturday 19 or Sunday 20.  They will be honored, KC assured.  He also said that the ticket price for the August shows has been reduced by $5.00, and either a refund or 'gift' will be issued to patrons when they attend the show.

For those who might still turn up at KC's Hideaway on Sunday July 16, unaware of Desperadoes' rescheduled performance(s), KC says that there will be a 'free show' in progress at the venue, featuring 'four live bands'  including CASYM steel orchestra, who had been scheduled to be part of the originally-carded show.

The Desperadoes and Starlift August New York appearances will follow KC's Band Meets Band promotion in June 17 & 18 at his Hideaway, headlined by Trinidad All Stars.  According to KC, the latter is also expected back in New York to perform once more with him, this time at the annual Labor Day celebration on Brooklyn's Eastern Parkway in September.
