Pan Trinbago Set To Host “Honouring The Panguard”
Trinidad - Pan Trinbago T.C. Inc. will be hosting an
Award Function “Honouring The Panguard”, a tribute to the surviving members of a
group of pannists who, fifty-five (55) years ago, introduced to the wider world
the music of what is now our national instrument.
Venue: The Festival Ballroom
Crowne Plaza
Wrightson Road, Port of Spain
Date: Friday 10th November 2006
Time: 8:00 pm
Dress Code: Lounge/Ethnic Wear
At the function, tribute will be paid to those featured in the vanguard of
international exposure of steelband music , paving the way for later global
reach and continuing spread of appreciation for Trinidad & Tobago national
musical instrument.
Among the recipients are members of the defunct Trinidad All Steel Percussion
Orchestra (TASPO) and The First National Steelband including Edgar Pouchet Jr.,
Lennox “Bobby” Mohammed, Stephen Sardinha, Anthony Williams, Dr. Ellie Mannette,
Hugh Borde, Clifford Alexis, Emmanuel Riley, Glenford Soberts, Oscar Pile, Errol
Zephrine, Neville Muraldo and Sterling Betancourt MBE.
“Honouring The Panguard” is under the patronage of Senator The Hon. Joan Yuille-Williams,
Minister of Community Development, Culture & Gender Affairs.
