• CJ Menge's “Inside Out Steel Pan Project” hosts two sessions of the All-Austin Steelband Camp.  Directors Emily Lemmerman and Matt Ehlers invite steelband enthusiasts of all skill levels from elementary, middle and high schools to come celebrate the Caribbean steel drum art form.  Students from across Austin come together to make music for one week.  First session: middle and high school students.  (click here for info on second session).  Camp will culminate in a concert at 4:00 PM on Friday 18.

• Church Rock Academy Elementary School Steel Drum Band performs.  Students from Church Rock Academy in the Navajo Nation near Gallup, New Mexico share their love of music and celebrate their culture.  Although the steel drum often celebrates music from Afro-Caribbean cultures, these young Navajo students have adopted this instrument as their own and so celebrate both their own culture with traditional Navajo music and other cultures by playing music such as reggae, calypso, and limbo.  Time: 2:00 PM.  Venue: National Museum of the American Indian, 1st level - Potomac Atrium, Fourth Street & Independence Ave., S.W., Washington, DC, USA

• High school steel band performs, among many other artistes at a fundraiser, the 2nd Annual International Food Festival and Grand Raffle.  The festival will include food from all around the world, carnival games, bouncing castles, clowns, Moko jumbies, an interactive theatre performance, balloons, calypso, fungi, & soca music as well as music from one of the best DJ’s in the BVI.  Venue: HLSCC (H.
