PAN SPOTLIGHT

Sesame Flyers international, Winthrop Beacon  Program,-- Mr. Joseph Gerald - Director

Washington D.C.
On Sunday May 30, Pan Masters Steel Orchestra will be hosting the 6th annual Pan Jamboree. These are the bands we’ll be featuring:

Positive Vibrations Youth Steel Orchestra: a very talented youth group from the Cultural Academy For Excellence program in Maryland. Pan culture is being kept alive in the next generation by these kids. They have toured to Senegal twice and have been wowing crowds locally for years.

Michael George: he’s been a fixture on the DC pan scene for many years. He amazed the crowd at last year’s Jamboree with his “one-man band,” and this year promises something even more new and incredible. Last year we saw him play double seconds, triple cello, harmonica and percussion all at the same time!

Tropical Ensemble: the smooth sounds of Emrold Gray and company, from the Baltimore area.

St. Veronica’s Youth Steelband: Another great kid’s group, this one from Baltimore. They won the top prize at the Virginia Beach pan festival in 2003.

CASYM: Multi-time New York Panorama winners. They have incredible energy and always get the crowd going.

Pantonics: Reigning New York Panorama champs! If you haven’t heard their latest CD, go out and get it now; it’s a pan classic. We are excited to have them for the first time at our Jamboree.

And of course, your host band, Pan Masters Steel Orchestra. Going strong in the DC area for 19 years, we’ll be featuring some great arrangements by Roger Greenidge, Kristen Jones and Lennard Jack.

This all takes place at 4559 Rhode Island Ave., North Brentwood, MD (one mile from the DC line). Starts at 3 pm and goes on probably until about 10 pm. Admission is $10; children under 12 get in for $5. Music, food and fun for the whole family.
