SOUTH BANDS PLAY FIRST IN TSTT PAN DOWN MEMORY LANE/PAN IN THE 21ST CENTURY ON FRIDAY
Reigning Pan in the 21st Century champion Desperadoes will play at position six (6) in the grand finals at the Jean Pierre Complex, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain, on Friday evening. Desperadoes, who is going after the hat-trick will perform Robin Thicke’s “Lost Without You” arranged by Eddie Quarless. The Laventille-based steel orchestra is one of 12 bands that will compete in the Conventional Band category. Exodus which topped the Preliminary round will perform in fifth spot. Their tune of choice is “Dreadlocks” composed by Mungal Patassar. The full list of Pan in the 21st Century competitors is as follows:-
click here for full preliminary results For this competition, bands are required to perform songs from the contemporary world beat repertoire. The arrangements were to be innovative, creative and not done in the usual Panorama format. Thirty (30) steel orchestras faced the adjudication panel comprising Lennox London, Louis Nurse, Jeanette Johnson and Junior “Ibo” Joseph
In the Pan Down Memory Lane category, Shades In Steel will open with “Unfaithful” sung by Rihanna. The Single Pan band will be followed by newcomer Woodbrook Brimlers, with St. James Tripolians closing off that session. Judges are Brian “Bean” Griffith, Richard Pierre, Darren Sheppard, Curtis Edwards. The 12 finalists in this category and their order of appearance are as follows:-
