Trinidad
- Two new Panorama champions have emerged after last
evening’s Small and Medium Band Finals at the Queen’s Park
Savannah in Port of Spain.
Arima Golden Symphony registered the first win of the
season with their arrangement of Winston Scarborough’s
“A Blue Crescendo.” The band from the east secured 439
points to take home the first prize of $400,000 and the bp Challenge Trophy, plus replica.
Interestingly, the top four positions in the Small Band
category went to bands playing De Fosto’s “A Blue
Crescendo.”
CLICO Sforzata dethroned Courts Sound Specialists of
Laventille in the Medium Band category winning $600,000. Under the baton of Yohan Popwell, the band’s
scintillating arrangement of “Bandoleros” placed them
ahead of the rest with 473 points.
With a difference of two points, NLCB Buccooneers of
Tobago came in second with Seion Gomez’s arrangement of
“Dangerous.”
Overall, eight bands each in two categories were judged
by separate adjudication panels for cash prizes totaling $5,250,000.
