Steffon Thomas - Steelband Arranger

“My name is Steffon Thomas and I’m twenty-two years of age. I have been playing the steel pan since the age of nine and started studying music when I was eleven. I currently have distinctions in grades 1 to 3 of the Trinity College Music Theory exams, and have been tutoring basic music and steel pan for over 4 years.

“I first began performing in competitions like Sanfest and went on to take part in several competitions like the Black Carpet talent quest, where I won best instrumental, and I also was a soloist in the National Steelband Music festival ‘Pan is Beautiful XII.’

“I joined the Diatonic Pan Institute in 2010 and have performed both locally and internationally in places like Indiana, North Carolina, St. Vincent, and Taiwan. I began arranging in 2012 and competed in several competitions such as NGC Sanfest, Pan for Blue, Junior Panorama, and the National Panorama Competition . I also have done solo instrumental performances in concerts, dinners , graduations, weddings, etc.”
