Marlon began playing steel pan at the age of 12 under the tuition of Paul Dowie whilst a student at Stanley Technical High School. After spending several years learning the instrument he soon joined Comets Steel Band in South Norwood.
He got into tutoring at the age of 17 when he started his own band, Endurance Steel Orchestra, based in South East London. Since then, the band has gone from strength to strength - placing 3rd in the “Best Band on The Road” competition at Notting Hill in 2012, securing a bid to perform as part of the Lord Mayors Show 2013 as well as performing internationally.
Marlon has been honing his skills on the steel pan through his unwavering leadership of Endurance, through their endeavours, as well as playing with a number of top UK steel bands, being in cities to participate in New York panorama and working full-time as a steel pan tutor in various schools across London - with his two-year-winning-streak at Classorama demonstrating his hand with his schools.
Now Endurance is in its eighth year of running.
