Semi-Finals Order of Appearance - Medium & Large Steel Orchestras
Trinidad & Tobago Steelband Panorama 2013

Global - The Carnival ‘now start’ as the semi finalists of the Medium and Large Conventional bands rage a musical battle for Pan supremacy.  Fourteen Medium and seventeen Large steel orchestras will compete on Sunday 27 January, at the “Big Yard,” Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, Trinidad, from 12 noon. The play off is the highly anticipated National Panorama Semi Finals, and will follow those for the Single Pan Bands and Small Steel Orchestras on Saturday 26.

Selections include current and “traditional” music with the majority of steelbands opting for the latter. These include Winston Scarborough’s We Come Out to Play (3), Clive Telemaque’s Bounce and Drive (2), and Shock Attack from Edwin Pouchet & Alvin Daniell (4).

Unlike the Large steel orchestras, the elimination round for Medium Bands was held in four zones over a four-day period. Trinidad’s sister isle of Tobago is represented by defending Medium category champs Katzenjammers, along with Buccooneers, Steel Xplosion, Dixieland and Redemption Sound Setters.

Large conventional steel orchestra 2012 champs Trinidad All Stars will face the judges in position 12 in their category on Sunday. Their tune of choice is Bounce and Drive composed by band member Clive Telemaque with arrangement by Leon “Smooth” Edwards.

Tickets for the semi-finals aka “Savannah Party” are on sale at the advertised outlets for the North Stand and North Greens at TT $350.00, respectively, and the Grand Stand at TT $300.00. 2013 commemorates the 50th anniversary of Panorama and is in tribute to the late Bertie Marshall ORTT.
