Medium Steel Orchestra Finalists:  Trinidad & Tobago Steelband Panorama 2013

Global - Results from the Medium Steel Orchestra semi-final rounds held January 27 at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain, find defending champs Katzenjammers Steel Orchestra in fifth position after their performance of Keshorn - The Javelin Champion, written by Edwin Pouchet and Alvin Daniell.  With Len “Boogsie” Sharpe taking up the arranging reins after Edwin Pouchet bowed out due to health challenges, the Tobago-based band returns on final night, intent on holding on to their title as Medium Band champions.  Their goal this year - clinching the elusive three-peat.

Nine other steel orchestras are just as determined to win it all in 2013, including three fellow bands which also hail from Tobago.  One of those, Buccooneers, topped the semi-final round, scoring 271, and were actually runners-up in the 2012 competition.

These steel orchestras join ten in the large category for the Grand Finals.  Tickets are priced at TT $450.00 (Grand Stand General), TT $700.00 (Grand Stand Reserved) and $300.00 (North Stand); they are available at the Ticket Booth at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Atherly’s, Sutton Street in  San Fernando, and at Electro Sounds, Dinsley, Tacarigua from Monday 4 February from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Following is a list of those moving on to the finals which start at 7:00 p.m. Saturday February 9, also at the Savannah.
