LYRICS

Verse 1

A new song in the town
Everybody playing along
A new feel, a new zeal
A new taste, with more pace
As we set for the battleground
Shake yuh waist - sweet Pan in the place
Is Pan, all day and night
Dem band will be alright
With dey jumbie beat
Dat really sound so sweet
Prepare to compete, no retreat

Chorus

Everybody jumping up to the beat
Everybody jumping up in the street
Everybody jumping up feeling glad
Everybody jumping up like they mad
Playing -
Pam pi tam, pam pam pi tam (x3)
Pam pi tam pi tam
Everybody jumping up to the Pan
Everybody jumping up with dey band
Everybody jumping up to the steel
Everybody jumping up till dey feel
Saying -
We come out to play (x4)
Play yuh pan, we comin’ down (x4)

Verse 2

Pan again, sun or rain
Go be trouble in Port-of-Spain
A new feel, a new zeal

Time to go crazy, follow me

Winston Scarborough is considered by many to be one of the all-time great composers of steelband ‘panorama tunes.’

A performer artiste himself, 2013 will mark the 35th year that Trinidad & Tobago’s Winston Scarborough (The Original DeFosto Himself - as he loves to be called) has been singing calypsos.  For him it was an uphill struggle to be recognized by the fraternity and public at large.

Abandoned by both his parents at the young age of 6 months, Scarborough was sent to the Tacarigua Orphanage in east Trinidad where he remained until age 17.  The experience in the orphanage would place an indelible stamp on him.

One of the most important aspects of DeFosto’s work as a calypsonian is the tributes he has paid in song to many of Trinidad & Tobago’s cultural icons; the late Lord Kitchener (calypsonian Aldwyn Roberts) would be one such with whom people are most familiar.

The last three years continued to be fruitful for The Original DeFosto Himself, with the release of such hits as “Smooth Sailing;” “A Raging Storm;” “In She Rainorama” and  “Boogsie Sharpe.”

For 2013 the man of music is on the ball again with We Come Out to Play—the track featured here (with Mighty Jamma as executive producer) and We Toco Golden Boy.  The latter honors Trinidad & Tobago’s 2012 Olympic gold medalist, javelin thrower Keshorn Walcott.
