Touch Down by Colin "CJ" Jackman

  Visit When Steel Talks

Colin Hayden Jackman better known as “CJ” was born May 12, 1968. Colin started his musical journey at the tender age of ten under the breadfruit tree, playing the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago—in his case the tenor pan—with Trintoc Invaders. He migrated to the U.S. in the early ‘80s and made his debut on the Soca stage in 1989 with the hit ‘Poison in the Party.’

Colin then went on to join many bands like ‘Zoom Rhythm Division,’ ‘Blaze’ and ‘Chandelier.’ In 2001 & 2002 he was the first runner-up in the Young Kings of Calypso Monarch competitions. His positive 2003 tune ‘When Ah Mother Cry’ took him to higher heights in winning the Arima Calypso Monarch competition. The singer then formed the Soca Awards Organization Inc. In that same year he started the International Soca Awards red carpet ceremony.

Colin was awarded the Upliftment and Improvement (U & I) Award in New York City by Ms. Monica Sanchez, CEO of CCNMGI & CIP Org., for his key leadership role towards the upliftment and improvement of Caribbean Culture and Soca music. The award was presented to him by actor and humanitarian Mr. Danny “Diehard” Glover.

Colin has vowed to the world that his love for Soca and Calypso is unwavering and he will continue working towards the dream of “Taking soca to higher heights™”. After dropping Ah Big Song last year, Colin “CJ” Jackman is back in the driver’s seat with his hit composition Touch Down for Panorama 2014.
