Preliminary Results for Medium Conventional Steel Orchestras - Trinidad & Tobago Panorama 2016
Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - With the preliminary rounds in judging for the medium steel orchestra for the 2016 Panorama season now relegated to the history books, it is now official which fourteen bands will move on to the semi-finals slated for this coming weekend, Sunday January 24th at the Queen's Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.
While some bands are eagerly looking forward to Sunday's competition, there is disappointment and shock in other pan yards - such as category stalwarts Valley Harps with arranger Michelle Huggins-Watts, having been stopped at position #15 in a tie with Hatters Steel Orchestra from the south land. Both music organizations, along with eleven others, did not make it through the cut-off point of the top fourteen.
No such issue for reigning medium band category champs Pan Elders which is settled comfortably at position number one going into Sunday's music fray. All three categories - small, medium and large - all converge on the Savannah for a day and night of competitive pan music. Activities are scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. Drawing for order of appearance will be held on Thursday January 21st.
Following are the full results for the preliminary phase of competition for medium conventional steel orchestras.
