Complete Preliminary Results for Medium Conventional Steel Orchestras - Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama 2018
Update: Full RESULTS Summary
Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - In the medium band category - fourteen steel orchestras out of the twenty-five which eventually participated in the preliminary phase of the 2018 Trinidad and Tobago National Panorama - will move on to the semi-final competition at the Big Yard at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, this coming weekend on Sunday January 28.
This is the second year running that the style of judging in the pan yards was applied to the medium (and small) steel orchestras - instead of meet-ups at 'regional' venues. Prior, this was the case of the large conventional steel orchestras, where judges visited those pan yards, generally with a caravan of supporters in tow. Since 2017, it has been instituted across the board in all three conventional band categories.
However, together on stage on Sunday, the playing field is expected to be level at the same performance venue, with a realignment in the results, as those eventually selected move on to the finals.
Pan Elders are the reigning champions in this, the medium steel orchestra category. They are leading going in to the semi finals with their current score of 265. If successful in retaining their crown, it would mark five consecutive medium band championships for Pan Elders Steel Orchestra, which is performing music arranged by the charismatic ace musician Duvone Stewart.
Following are the full results for the preliminary phase of competition for medium conventional steel orchestras.
