London, United Kingdom
-- Caribbean Steel International (CSI) held their

2009. DJs on the night included Martin
Jay, Mike Forbes, DSI and W.I Connection. Pan Trinbago President - Keith Diaz,

attended and fully supported the event.
The Caribbean Steel International Community

London - with their classes aimed at giving the public the opportunity of
learning about, and how to play the steel pan instrument.

CSI felt classes would be especially beneficial
to those who are disabled, socially excluded, and an advantage for the youths in
the borough - as it would keep them off the streets and teach them a culture they
may not already know about, while also giving them the opportunity to enhance their
teamwork skills and take pride in themselves and what they can achieve.
Community Group members are given the opportunity to perform their new
repertoire of music at gigs and various steel-pan events.
Since their inception CSI Steelband Trust has won the UK Junior Panorama in 2008
and 2009. They have appeared at the BAS/GLA Trafalgar Square Steelband Jamboree
in both years and also competed in the National Steelband Panorama competition
in Hyde Park where they attained 7th place in 2008 and 3rd place in 2009. They
performed at the Afrique-Caribe Festival in Amsterdam and intend to visit the
USA and Canada in 2010 as well as participate at the Rotterdam Carnival 2010.
Their classes are full and there is currently a waiting list. The CSI pan family
ensures that all members and guests feel comfortable and happy and they spread
the ‘Pan Gospel’ wherever they go.
