Trinidad &
Tobago, W.I. -
When Steel
Talks extends condolences to the
family, friends and colleagues of
Trinidad & Tobago veteran television
and cultural personality Allyson
Hennessy, who passed away on
Saturday night after a relatively
short illness.
A lover of
the steelband music and artform
herself, Ms. Hennessy was a staunch
proponent of the legendary
Desperadoes Steel Orchestra, and
could be counted on for a public and
positive outlook regarding the
historic Laventille Hill-based music
organization.
Wearing her ‘Desperadoes’ T-Shirt,
Allison Hennessy interviews Len
“Boogsie” Sharpe at the ‘wake’ for
the late Clive Bradley in
Desperadoes’ Panyard, Laventille
She was present
at times of transition impacting
Desperadoes, such as the celebration
of the life of their legendary
arranger Clive Bradley.
Bringing highlights of the affair to
the rest of the country, Allyson
Hennessy proudly displayed her
support of the iconic music
organization, sporting the band’s
T-Shirt while on official assignment
for the event.
In a press
release, Pan Trinbago president
Keith Diaz ‘saluted’ Ms. Hennessy’s
contributions, saying “The
association valued the relationship,
which we shared with Allyson
Hennessy. We take this
opportunity to commiserate with the
family of this great patriot, who
prided herself on being part of the
cultural landscape.”
Viewed daily,
known and loved by many in her
decades–long span as a staple in
Trinidad & Tobago television, Allyson
Hennessy will be missed.
