Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Five small conventional steel orchestras in the Northern Region i.e. West Stars, Merry Tones, Hummingbirds Pan Groove, Harvard Harps and Flabej Now Ensemble will start the National Panorama Small Conventional Preliminaries 2020 on Monday December 9, 2019 from 7:00 p.m. at their respective panyards.
Continuing on Tuesday December 10 will be six in that region. Those being judged Tuesday are Blue Diamonds, Belmont 5th Dimension, St. Margaret Super Stars, Crescendos Musicale, Road Block and Defence Force steel orchestras.
Come Wednesday December 11, the final five will go through their paces. They are Tokyo, Highlanders, Xpress 21, Morvant Ebonites and T&T Music Stars. Starting time on both days is 7:00 p.m.
The four-man adjudication panel will travel to the East where they will judge fourteen bands over a three–day period. Then it’s onto South/Central where another twelve bands will be judged. The last grouping to face the panel is Tobago where eight bands will be the focus.
In this ‘small steel orchestra’ category, bands are permitted to perform with between 40 to 60 players for a maximum of eight (8) minutes.

A total of 54 bands—from these four regions Northern, Eastern, South/Central and Tobago—are scheduled to vie for the top 30 positions to compete in the National Semi-Final round on Saturday January 4, 2020 at Victoria Square, Park Street, Port of Spain.
UPDATE: Due to inclement weather, Day 3 of the Northern Region bands - formerly Wednesday December 11 - was cancelled, and rescheduled to Thursday December 12. The first two bands of the Eastern Region - B Minor and Sound Of Music - are still on the schedule for Thursday December 12.
Start time for proceedings on Thursday is one hour earlier, now 6:00 p.m.
