Maurisha Potter is a 29 year old female panist, born and raised in Antigua. She has been playing the steel pan for seventeen (17) years and is actively involved in the art form.
She began her journey at the Christ the King High School in 2004 under the guidance of Mr. Stafford Joseph and as she advanced over the years, began playing for the Hells Gate Steel Orchestra (Panorama Side) during the period 2010-2015. In 2016, she played with the West Side Symphony (Panorama Side) and in the same year, she ventured to the Panache Steel Orchestra and decided to make it her home band. She greatly aided in the band's development, in which she worked her way to her current position of Vice Captain as well as the Drill Master, assisting champion female arranger Zahra Lake, to make the Panache Steel Orchestra a force to be reckoned with.
Outside of the Panache Steel Orchestra, Maurisha arranged for her alma mater, the Christ the King High School Steel Orchestra in 2019 for her first time and managed to place 2nd runner up in the National Junior Panorama Competition. She is also a soloist, single tenor being her main instrument, and performs at various events upon request. She is a performer at heart, as you are guaranteed to see her bright smile and dance moves!
Although Maurisha only studied music at a secondary school level, she aims to continue to learn and inspire anyone who she comes in contact with, especially young female panists and hopes that as she continues to strike the notes on her pan that she will be able to touch the hearts of everyone across the globe.
