Meet Emmanuel Joseph of Trinidad & Tobago - Steelpan Performing Artist

Emmanuel Joseph is a student of The University of the West Indies, currently pursuing his Bachelor’s in Literatures in English with the desire to become an educator. He has attended both Holy Cross College, Arima (CSEC), and St. Mary’s College, POS (CAPE).

His pursuits in the steelpan fraternity have seen him make contributions to the Malabar RC Primary Steel Orchestra, and the St. Mary’s College Steel Ensemble. He was also a senior member of the Melodians Steel Orchestra, Arima.

He is now currently functioning as a member of the UWI Arts Steel Ensemble, outgoing captain of the bpRenegades Youth Steel Orchestra and a member of the bpRenegades Steel Orchestra.

In the 2020 Junior Panorama Competition, Joseph made his debut as an Arranger. Working with the Holy Cross College Steel Orchestra, he was able to place 6th in the finals, the school’s first ever entry in Panorama. He has also worked with the Holy Name Convent POS Steel Ensemble and conducted several pan classes and seminars throughout his young career. He is pursuing Grade V in the ABRSM Music Theory Exams and Grade VIII in the ABRSM/UWI DCFA Music Practical Exams.

Emmanuel Joseph’s career as a soloist has seen achievement as the winner of the inaugural UWI’s Got Talent competition in October 2019. He has aspirations of becoming an accomplished arranger, composer and professional soloist, alongside his desire to be an educator.
