From a tender age, Sachelle Thomas has always known what she wanted. While in preschool, she wanted to be a pilot, because of her love of the sky and nature, but plans changed when her mother exposed her to music at the age of four. She started playing the steelpan under the tutelage of Mr. Nervin Saunders and was successful in the exams undertaken while there. She also played the piano under the direction of Ms. Kay Pierre and Mr. Osmond Forbes and was successful in her piano examinations.

After graduating from St Joseph’s Convent, Sachelle continued her studies at St. George’s College and is a recent graduate of the University of Trinidad and Tobago, where she attained her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with specialization in Music (Magna Cum Laude Honors).

Sachelle Thomas was recently the first person to ever be accepted at the NYU (New York University) Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development to pursue a Master’s in Steelpan performance, beginning Fall 2022. She is currently running a Fund Me campaign to raise funds for this venture as she sees the value in it not only for herself and NYU but for also Trinidad and Tobago and the steelpan.
