7. Preliminary Rounds
7.1 Preliminary Rounds – The preliminary rounds for both the Single Pan and Conventional Steelbands shall be held in each Region and will commence from Thursday January 13, 2005. The Events Committee shall determine the schedule for the judging process.
7.2 Location of Preliminary Judging – Judging of the performance of each Steelband during the preliminary stage of the competition shall occur at the panyard of the particular steelband or where such panyard location is deemed unsuitable for the purpose, at a suitable location in the particular community.
7.3 Suitability of Panyard – The Events Committee shall have sole authority to determine whether a particular panyard or other location within the community is in fact a suitable location for the conduct of the preliminary judging competition for the respective steelband.
7.4 Procedure for Judging Preliminary Rounds – The process of adjudication of the preliminary stage of the competition shall be as follows: -
(a) The Events Committee shall select a panel of Four (4) adjudicators to judge the preliminary round of the National Panorama Competition in both the Conventional and Single Pan categories.
(b) The Events Committee shall be responsible for the adjudication process at the preliminary rounds of the competition in the Region. This is to ensure that the process of adjudication is similar in each Region.
(c) The decision of the judges shall be final and binding and the Events Committee shall not entertain any protest with regard to judging.
7.5 Conclusion of Single Pan Preliminary Rounds – At the conclusion of the preliminaries, single pan steelbands will be selected to progress to the National Single Pan Semi-Final in the following manner:- (a) Fourteen (14) bands from the Northern Region (b) Eleven (11) bands from the Eastern Region (c) Four (4) bands from the South/Central Region (d) Three (3) bands from the Tobago Region
7.6 Conclusion of Conventional Steelband Preliminary Rounds – At the conclusion of the preliminaries, conventional steelbands will be selected to progress to the National Semi-Finals for Conventional Steelbands in the following manner:- (a) Fourteen (14) Large Conventional bands (b) Fourteen (14) Medium Conventional bands (c) Fourteen (14) Small Conventional bands
(b) General Performance - a maximum of 40 points shall be awarded under this category
(c) Tone - a maximum of 10 points shall be awarded under this category
(d) Rhythm - a maximum of 10 points shall be awarded under this category
