ADJUDICATION & JUDGING CRITERIA


8.       ADJUDICATION:

 

Regions Responsibility

 

v     Each region will be responsible for the adjudication at the Preliminary stage of the competition.  However, the process should be similar in each region.

 

v     Each Region will select its panel of five adjudicators to adjudicate the Preliminary round of the National Panorama Competition in both the Conventional and Single Pan categories.

 

Single Pan:

 

v     The Semi and Final stages of the competition will be adjudicated by five (5) judges appointed by Pan Trinbago’s Central Executive.  Judges to be seated will be selected by ballot immediately prior to the start of each stage of the competition.  Two other judges shall serve as alternates, so that in the event one or more of the five (5) judges is/are unable to function for the entire stage, he or she shall be substituted by an alternate.

 

Conventional:

 

                               i.            The Semi and Final stages of the competition will be adjudicated by seven (7) judges appointed by Pan Trinbago’s Central Executive.  Judges to be seated will be selected by ballot immediately prior to the start of each stage of the competition.  Two other judges shall serve as alternates, so that in the event one or more of the seven (7) judges is/are unable to function for the entire stage, he or she shall be substituted by an alternate.

 

                            ii.            In all cases, the highest and lowest points awarded to each band by the members of the panel will be excluded, and the score to be awarded will be the aggregate points of the other five/three judges.

 

 

                          iii.            In the event that two or more members of the panel awarded the same score to a band at the highest or lowest level, only one of these scores at each level will be eliminated.

 

                          iv.            The decision of the judges shall be final and binding and the Management Committee will entertain no protest with regard to judging.

 


 

9.       JUDGING CRITERIA

 

A steelband will be marked out of one hundred (100) points.

 

Points will be awarded as follows:

 

Arrangement                         40

General Performance          40

Tone                                       10

Rhythm                                  10
