The Fort Street-based panside had the enviable record of never missing a Tobago Panorama competition since it began in the 1960s. However, for a couple of years the band, which proudly flew the flag of Scarborough in steelband competitions, did not compete in the Tobago Panorama competitions.
Our Boys remains the only steelband from Trinidad and Tobago to be ranked on the prestigious American Bill Board charts. It is also one of the most travelled steelbands, making trips to the United States of America, Mexico, Africa and South East Asia.
Founded by Patrick Arnold in 1955, Our Boys stunned the Tobago steelband fraternity in 1974 when it changed its Panorama tune from Sparrow’s ‘Miss Mary’ two weeks before the Panorama competition to Shadow’s ‘Bassman’ and ran away with the Pan competition that year.
The band’s captain is Anton Jack, a former member of the National Steel Orchestra.
