Les Slater
is a print and broadcast journalist with a long-standing interest in the
cultural traditions of Trinidad and Tobago. He is the editor-at-large of
Black Diaspora magazine and is a columnist for the weekly
Caribbean Life, the most widely circulated stateside Caribbean
newspaper. He has also been the producer and host of numerous television
programs that have aired on WNYE-TV. He was a
founder of the Trinidad & Tobago Folk Arts Institute, a Brooklyn-based
organization devoted to the documentation and presentation of a variety
of calypso, steelband, and carnival artists. |
