Veteran steel orchestra music arranger Ken "Professor" Philmore has formed a new bond with the iPod and internet generation as a fresh group of young steelpan players and listeners have discovered his "in vogue" style of music. Over the past month the hip hop-laced version of Harmony Steel Orchestra's rendition of the Caribbean hit 'Nah Goin Home' as arranged by Philmore, has dominated the Panonthenet.com web site as the most popular steelband music performance video based on internet request for the video clip. The Harmony performance is part of the critically acclaimed Pan in New York pan yard recording series. According to Panonthenet officials the video clip has been one the most popular requests on the site dedicated to steel band activities world wide. A sizable amount of the requests have been coming from websites and chat rooms frequented by young people. In addition, a respectable amount of requests have been coming from .edu web sites, which would tend to suggest that a lot of showcasing of the performance from an educational stand point, is ongoing. Recently a You Tube version of the video clip has been added the When Steel Talks steelpan music video channel on You Tube. Professor struck a vibrant chord
with the younger generation as he broke protocol with the traditional
panorama music expectations, when he created a hot and musically dynamic
performance-oriented arrangement that drew heavily on the urban musical
elements - particularly hip hop. The video which documents the
making of the 2007 Pan in New York CD can be seen along with some of the
top steel orchestras in North America by clicking
