2010 Pan in the 21st Century Final night - Steel Orchestras’ Order of Appearance

Pan Trinbago Secretary Richard Forteau, at left in pictureTrinidad & Tobago, W.I. - At the ‘live’ drawing for playing positions, facilitated by Pan Trinbago Secretary Richard Forteau (pictured at right, in red), for the finals of the 2010 Pan in The 21st Century competition - Invaders Steel Orchestra pulled playing position number one.  They will be first on stage to present what is expected to be a card of twelve extremely competitive performances, from some of the country's noted steel orchestras, all vying for the championship title and a prize purse of TT $100,000.00 on final night.  The much-anticipated showdown kicks off this Saturday 29 May at the Jean Pierre Complex, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, beginning at 8:00 p.m.

And, there are two highly visible differences in the finalists as originally announced by Pan Trinbago recently.  The previous official 2010 final lineup did not include a Tobago steel orchestra, as apparently neither Katzenjammers or Our Boys - the two entrants from the sister isle - made the cut.  Also, Potential Symphony - which had scored 248 points, just enough to take the last available slot for the final round - now is not listed in the final line-up.  Additionally, according to information on Pan Trinbago’s preliminary phase results, Katzenjammers and Curepe Scherzando tied for thirteenth position with 247 points.  If it was simply a matter of moving up the ‘band’ in thirteenth position to the finals - in case band number twelve (Potential Symphony) was replaced for some reason - in this particular scenario, Curepe Scherzando tied with Katzenjammers for that position.  When Steel Talks reached out to Pan Trinbago for comment, but has not received any official response.

Forty-plus bands performed in the preliminary round over a five-day period before a panel of adjudicators which included Carl “Beaver” Henderson, Chantal Esdelle, Sherry Ann Saunders and Lambert Phillip.

The order of appearance of the bands and their selections are as follows:-
