- Pan Trinbago will be
hosting a Judges’ Seminar on
Saturday May 8 2010 at the
Ministry of Community
Development, Culture and Gender
Affairs Learning Resource
Centre, La Fantasie,
St. Ann’s, Trinidad, from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
This exercise is being conducted in an attempt to improve the
adjudication aspect of
Steelband music Panorama competitions.
Approximately 200 invitations have been issued.
Steelband representatives, Adjudicators and Arrangers are the target audiences.
Dr. Pat Bishop, Mrs. Merle Albino-de Coteau and Mr. Orville Wright will present
papers and hold discussions on the Panorama Judging Criteria.
Topics that will be addressed include:-

Criteria for awarding
points for bands’ performances
at National Panorama Steelband competition, and
the development of
strategies for
improvement
-
Effect of crowd responses on
some judges, and should judges
be swayed by crowd
response
-
Definition of points awarded
between certain numbers for each
stage of the
competition. The bench mark –
should it be implemented?
Papers presented by the panel
will be evaluated for possible
implementation at the 2011
Panorama competition in Trinidad
& Tobago.
It should be noted
only judges
who attend this forum will be
short-listed to adjudicate
Panorama Competitions.
