Pan in de Countryside 2013 - first stop: Tableland

Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - April marks the start of the “new” Pan Trinbago Pan in de Countryside series.  The event commences on Saturday 6th April at the Tableland Recreation Centre, Tableland Extension Road, Tableland, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Pan in de Countryside’ as the name signifies is a concert-style event showcasing the music of the steelpan in outlying areas of the twin-islands of Trinidad and Tobago, the home of Steelpan.  The pan jamboree will present steelbands from the North, South and East.

The inaugural program includes Rio Claro Koskeros, San City Symphony, Golden Hands, Pamberi, and former Panorama and Pan in the 21st Century champions Renegades with resident DJ Klass is Class. Admission is free.

As a special incentive, Pan Trinbago will be providing a shuttle service with a limited number of seats at TT $125.00 per person. Transportation will depart Pan Trinbago Head Office, Park Street, Port of Spain at 2:00 p.m. Interested persons can call 1 (868) 623-4486 or 1 (868) 625-3556.

According to Pan Trinbago: “Pan in de Countryside is a series of “open air” pan concerts designed to take the steelband music to far-flung villages and small towns where there is an absence of steelband and where there is little understanding of what pan can offer the community.”

Steelpan memorabilia, food and drink will be on sale on location.

Look out for the continuation of the series in Biche, Fyzabad, Tabaquite and Tobago at dates and venues to be announced.
