maintained its lead gained in
the preliminary round, again
garnering the highest score ahead of
seven other competitors on final
night. The defending Pan Is
Beautiful champion
Exodus Steel Orchestra had to
settle for fourth place, behind
Invaders and Couva Joylanders steel
orchestras.
With a total of eighteen minutes in hand, in this, the ‘Orchestra Class,’ bands were required to perform the Test Piece, Black Stalin’s “Mr. Pan Maker,” along with a ‘Tune of Choice.’
The division originally saw fourteen steel orchestras vying for the top prize of TT$250,000.00 (circa USD $39,000.00) and trophies at stake. After the preliminary round the competition was whittled down to eight for the November 16 finale at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain, the country’s capital.
