New York, USA - The steelpan instrument and indigenous sounds software made a big splash today on the island of Manhattan as part of the IMSTA (International Music Software Trade Association) FESTA NYC 2013. The Trinidad and Tobago based-software company Indigisounds headed by David A. Chow showcased its goods alongside some of the biggest names in the music software business, the likes of Steinberg, Avid, Solid State Logic and more.

Via keyboards, steelpan musician Johann Chuckaree demonstrates the capabilities of the Indigisounds software
With the small room crowded, demonstrator and ace panist Johann Chuckaree only had time to take a couple gulps of water - or sometimes not! - before he put on his welcome hat over and over again for the benefit of new influxes of visitors who were interested in the Indigisounds plug-in on display that worked in tandem with the Kontakt software.

As one entered the foyer for event registration, and amidst all the other audio from various booths, the sounds of the steelpan - or the Indigisounds software - (you couldn’t tell from the lobby - and that’s the point!) - greeted all who came to the IMSTA Festa. One lady who was awaiting her turn to get inside the Indigisounds booth said to those around her “I heard the sounds [of the Pan] and I just had to come!”

Chuckaree played his tenor pan, introducing his audience to its sounds, then showcased the steelpan samples via keyboard and the PanKAT (the MalletKAT was also on hand), inviting guests to compare the similarity and close approximation of the Indigisounds plug-in to the actual steelpan sounds.
