Ah can’t help myself ah have to jump and sway
Ah want to join and play

Boom boom boom boom bo dum be dum bum
And meh ping pang ping pang ping pang ping pang
Pitting pee ting pang

Meh mother she took me

And meh ping pang ping pang ping pang ping pang
Pitting pee ting pang

Verse 2:
My father he said that pan is in my soul
That music you see, it does control me
Without it, it just seems that I am not whole
Ah cyar escape no way
He continued saying “all this pan fuh so
You always playing, it’s so frustrating
Come on son there’s other music you should know”
I don’t see it that way.

Verse 3:
I have to agree with what the doctors said
Awake or sleeping, of pan ah dreaming
That won’t go away ah sure until ah dead
Pan is with me to stay
And as I grow up to be an old, old man
Because pan music, is so fantastic
I shall live my life the very best I can
Pan with me all the way

Twelve-year old Allan is a Form 2 student at St. Mary’s College in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.  He has always enjoyed music and has been singing from a very tender age.

At six years old, he entered and won a calypso competition in his then school, St. Xavier’s Private in St. Joseph, east Trinidad.  Two years later at eight years old, he won a national junior calypso competition, ‘Young Pioneers’ singing a calypso entitled ‘The World We Live In’; the following year he regained the title with a composition called ‘Street Children’ which highlighted the problems faced by homeless children all over the world.  ‘Street Children’ has gained a large worldwide audience through YouTube on his channel: www.youtube.com/user/clellard

Allan enjoys playing the piano, playing football and acting (he has performed in three major musical productions at Queen’s Hall, Port-of-Spain).  His accomplishments are well chronicled on the internet.  He has a love for the steelpan and plays tenor.  His song for the year 2010 - ‘Pan in Meh DNA’ - is about his passion for the instrument.
