“Dennis “Tash” Ash, a steelpan legend, has passed away.

“Tash was one of my musical heroes. His playing had a spiritual quality. He put his soul into every note he struck. Standing on top of Desperadoes float, looking skyward, his eyes closed, with his hands floating gracefully across the pans, Tash made the double second sing.

“Few players reached his level of artistry. And fewer matched his lifelong commitment and dedication to the artform.

“Tash was a national treasure.

“Rest in Peace my Brother.”

Garvin Blake
