This week's edition of the
Cool Steel
steelpan music program on PanRadio opened up with a
special exclusive internet "sneak preview" from
Pantonic Steel
Orchestra's upcoming CD/DVD treat for 2005. The
New York powerhouse, featuring the musical vision of their
captain and accomplished arranger, Keith Roberts, showcased his
interpretation and Pantonic's talents with Shania Twain's hit "Still
The One." This project is a follow- up collaboration with
Basement Recordings, to the steel orchestra's world famous
Pantonic Live! The CD. Cool
Steel is picking this one as a "sure shot"
monster hit!
Desperadoes, playing John Legend's
"Ordinary People" as arranged by the master Clive Bradley for
the Pan In The 21st Century 2005 competition, continues to be the
runaway smash hit and top-requested pan tune for the past six weeks.
It's become an "I-Pod" favorite! Looks like this is going to be one
of the major contenders for the 2005 steelpan music single of the
year. Not far behind, mind you, is the second most requested
pan single also in the past six weeks - Phase 2 Pan Groove's roaring
renditon of Boogsie Sharpe's outstanding arrangement of Michael
Jackson's "Billie Jean."
