PanRadio travels around the globe in search of the world's best steelpan music.

Wilbert 'Junior' Gill

Please note that we have extended our line-up of steelpan music for your enjoyment!  Archived shows are sometimes in rotation, in addition to current steelpan programs.  Please keep this in mind regarding any obviously time-dated content in the shows, including events, information and advertisements!  And keep listening to PanRadio!

Wibert 'Junior' Gill came to New York in 2003 as part of Billy Cobham's Culturemix and played at the Iridium.  But this Zurich-based musician is an in-demand performer around the world in his own right, and is a prolific pannist.  Gill is featured on the 1999 CD called Caribeye.  One of its nine tracks "I'd Sunne" is first up on this edition of Cool Steel.

The selection from the last edition of Cool Steel  which got the most votes, submitted by email to panradio@panonthenet.com, was "Finale" by Renegades Steel Orchestra, based in Trinidad & Tobago.  From Germany and voted in at #2 was Bima with "Tarn"; and Freddie Harris, III and Kareem Thompson with Jambalasi rounded off the top three with "The New Children Of The World."

Keep those emails coming!
