Pan Rebels Steel Orchestra - “On De Road” - (Audio)
Garvin Blake - Arranger
Brooklyn, New York, USA - This is Pan Rebels Steel Orchestra performing a Garvin Blake-arrangement of “On De Road” by Ronnie McIntosh. Pan Rebels was captured by Basement Recordings in their panyard, a few days before they took the stage for the 1995 New York Panorama.
The year is 1995 and Pan Rebels find themselves again in a panyard, located at “the dead end” on East 22nd Street between the rear stage entrance of the then-abandoned Kings Theatre (formerly the Lowes Kings Theatre) and the iconic (Brooklyn) Sears parking lot. (See picture)
Before he became known for his feathery touch, significant recording music works - Belle Eau Road Blues and Parallel Overtones - Garvin Blake was a highly-respected Brooklyn steel orchestra arranger who got ‘two thumbs up’ on his potential arranging output from the legendary Clive Bradley. Pan Rebels with Garvin Blake at the musical helm would go on to place 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 1994 & 1995 New York Panorama competitions.
