2018 Panyard Recording PlaylistBasement Recordings captures four major New York steel orchestras in their panyards just days before they took the stage for the fierce and distinguished 2018 New York Panorama competition. The orchestras captured are Despers USA, CASYM, Pan Evolution and ADLIB. These orchestras featured some of the finest Panorama music arrangers and musicians in the world. For 2018 we have Odie Franklin (Despers USA), Kendall Williams (CASYM), André White (Pan Evolution) and Marc Brooks (ADLIB).
As is the rich tradition of Basement Recordings’ New York panyard recordings, each orchestra performed two, and only two takes - one ‘cool-down’ and one at tempo. Both the performers and engineers must bring their ‘A’ game to the session.
Each recording is meant to allow the listener to experience the magnitude of the culture, attitude, style, colors, personality and voices that each orchestra brings to time-honored Summer musical ritual and pastime known as Pan in a Brooklyn New York panyard.
