When Steel Talks caught up briefly with Popwell for a quick interview; he says that even though they would have liked to win all the rounds [stages of competition], he is ‘kind of happy that the band fell to third place, because, somehow the players are a little more committed now because they want to get back on top.’

Noting that the judges did not have any commentary on the band’s score sheets from the semi-finals regarding changes, Popwell nonetheless feels some are in order, and he will be seeking the element of surprise for the night of competition, to garner additional attention to the arrangement.

Sforzata’s arranger admits it has been a hard season, with demands on his time divided among Sforzata, his commitment to All Stars as one of its veteran players, and also as arranger for a single pan band he arranged for earlier, but which did not make it this far into the competition.  Popwell is however eagerly looking forward to the events of the coming week culminating in final night competition at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.
