Courts Sound Specialists of Laventille playing
Benjai’s “Carnival Time Come Again” won Pan Trinbago’s Pan on The
Road 2009 competition and the associated TT$30,000 first prize. The
2007 and 2008 National Panorama (Medium category) champs scored 253
points in the Carnival Tuesday contest at Victoria Square, Port of
Spain.
Bands were required to play any 2009 calypso - excluding the band’s
Panorama tune.
Overall, six (6) Conventional bands performed before judges Ms. Merle
Albino-De Coteau, Ms. Joselynne Sealey and Ms. Jeanette Johnson.
In the Single Pan category, St. James Tripolians was the sole entrant.
They performed Len “Boogsie” Sharpe/Kernel Roberts’ “Magic Drums.” First
prize in this category was $15,000.
The competition was staged by the Events Management Committee.
