Panist, Bassist, Composer and Arranger

“Dougie” is a versatile Caribbean musician from Trinidad and Tobago with a career spanning three decades. He began as a panist with Phase II Pan Groove Steel Orchestra in 1975 then simultaneously began playing the electric bass guitar. From 1985 to 2003 he was the resident bassist with the popular Trinidad-based group ‘Andre Tanker and One World Contraband.’

He performed on the electric Bass Guitar and Steel Pans at festivals and concerts with renowned Caribbean and foreign musicians including Len “Boogsie” Sharpe, Robert Greenidge, Clive Zanda, Arturo Tappin, Theron Shaw, Annise Hadeed, Danish saxophonist Holger Laumann, TK Blue with Randy Weston and Andy Narell.

“Dougie” is also a co-founder of ‘Tabanca’ The Blues Band. He is also a member of Chantal Esdelle’s Group ‘Moyenne’ and presently the arranger for Harvard Harps Steel Orchestra and The Trinidad and Tobago Chinese Steel Ensemble
