“My name is Jamel Cadette, a sixteen-year-old who has a passion
for pan and on my way to becoming a very good musician. I
began to play the steelpan at the age of 11 in the year 2013, where
I was thought by my uncle, Esley Cadette. “A few years have gone by and I started to do my own thing... one day I realised that I have a good musical ear and I took advantage of it, and started to arrange songs at home in my bedroom. “I began the birdsong after school program where I started to learn to read music. The same year I started to get a lot better at arranging and I wanted to arrange for a Panorama band, so there is where I found Bon Air Rhythm Rockers; and at fifteen, I’m the youngest arranger in the 2018 Panorama. I didn't make it to semis or finals in 2018 but my first attempt was good, placing 40th out of 43 bands in the small conventional steel orchestra category. “I will keep on striving to do my best!” |
