His first arrangement was at the age of fifteen for a solo competition. That soloist went on to win the competition with McLeod’s arrangement.
McLeod has played with different steel bands over the years - La Romaine Super Vibes, Kalomo Kings, Hatters, Pan Elders, Invaders, ADLIB (New York), Golden Hands, Highlighters (Panorama/Band Arranger 2003 – 2010), Tropical Angel Harps and many others. In 2011, he arranged for La Romaine Super Vibes and Mt. Moriah Steel Orchestra for the National Panorama competition.
McLeod was also a member of the Trinidad and Tobago National Steel Orchestra, the National Steel Symphony Orchestra and music instructor for the National Youth Steel Orchestra. While a member of the National Steel Orchestra, he obtained a Grade 4 in Music Theory.
At present McLeod is the ‘house arranger’ for Hatters Steel Orchestra. Other than being a musician, and percussionist, Kevin McLeod also obtained a certificate for Architectural drawing from the University of the West Indies. He is also presently a music instructor with Trinidad and Tobago’s Multicultural Music Program, formerly known as the ‘Pan in the Class Room Unit.’
