Twenty-nine-year-old Nichaeus Richards’ involvement with the steelpan started at age 7 when he was introduced to the instrument by his father. He was additionally taught and groomed by Mr. Roland “Moose” Joseph. Later, Richards attended the University of the West Indies where he attained a Grade 3 certificate in music.
His musical path then led him to Siparia Deltones where he met musician and arranger Carlton “Zanda” Alexander. In 2009 Richards started arranging with Curepe Scherzando Steel Orchestra, then 2010 saw him returning to South Trinidad and working with the Diatonic Pan Institute for a few years as well.
Since then Richards has collaborated with bands like
Kalomo Kings in Pleasantville, and Antillean All Stars. He is currently arranging for
Mount Moriah Pan Movement.
