LYRICS
Dance with the music (x3)
Dance to the Steelband music in town
Dance with the music (x3)
Panmen want to know what’s going on
Verse 1
A musical
vibes with we inside the party
A musical vibes with we inside the
city
A musical vibes with we inside the
country
A musical vibes with we sure send
you crazy
Chorus
We come to
jump around
We come to mash down town
We come to jump and shout
That’s what it’s all about
We come to jam away
We come to dingolay
We come to make we play so panmen
must get pay
Yes we come
today
And we come to say
That we must get pay
It’s not a holiday
Yes we come to play
And to break away
Put the cheque in we hand
And then we go start to jam
Steelband
music all day
Calypso music all night
Steelband music all day
And then we go drop it right
Steelband music all day
Calypso music all night
Steelband music all day
And now we want to get pay
(Get pay get
pay
It’s now we want to get pay
Get pay get pay it’s that what we
come to say) REPEAT
Verse 2
Financial
vibes with we inside the kitty
You must understand lately things
ent so pretty
We practice all day all night
Just to get it right
Sun or rain come what may
We really want to get pay
Chorus

Bridge
It’s a
conscious cultural music
Not no jam and wine
Sweet music on we mind
It’s Steelband time
Rhythm and melody
Musical harmony
That’s our legacy

Edwin “Crazy” Ayoung
“Crazy” - born Edwin Ayoung in 1944, on Maraval Road in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad of a Venezuelan mother and Trinidadian father of Chinese descent, was - in his youth - as skilled and competitive in his country’s national pastime of cricket, as he has been now for years as a world-travelled musician, performing artist and composer.
Though dubbed The “Loveable
Lunatic of Soca,” Ayoung
has time and again not
been given his due in
his native land, yet
remains one of the most
commercially successful
artists on the international
soca scene. An experimentalist,
he pioneered the unique
musical genre known
as Parang Soca and played
a leading role in promoting
Chutney Soca. Crazy
would go on to sing
several monster smashes
in parang soca, including
Muchacha and
Homemade Wine.
A brilliant double-entendre artiste at its best - Edwin Ayoung has delighted in pushing the envelope in his humorous and witty manner. With songs like Paul, Nani Wine and Suck Meh Soucouyant to name but three, this illustrious performer remains a staple in the music world
He’s been ranked in the top three for Trinidad & Tobago’s annual national calypso monarch competition - his best showing being at position two with Dustbin Cover. He captured the prestigious Road March title (the ‘tune for the road’ during Carnival Monday and Tuesday) in 1985 with Suck Meh, Soucouyant.
“Crazy” is in musical form as usual, and for the 2019 steelband Panorama season Get Pay is probably just one of several ditties he will be heard on.
