King’s Row Retro Riddim was formed in Ste. Madeleine, Trinidad, in 2007. The area from where the band has originated was called Kings Row. The name was also inspired by a 1942 romance/drama carrying the same title. Retro Riddim was added because the band subscribes to vintage music selections. Since inception, the band took part in four Panorama competitions, where they made semifinals twice. The band consists of retired Panorama players who play for the enjoyment of the music, while prescribing to stern beverages. The main members of the band are Elton J. W Baine, Anthony De Caries, Gerod (Tray) Woodruffe, Keith Flores, Andy Williams, Brian Gombs, and Smokey.

King’s Row Retro Riddim foresees disconnections in the continuity of the steelpan legacy as the tradition passes on from the elders to the youth. Pontificating on the future of pan, based on the current state of affairs in the steelpan movement, is an exercise in futility. As such, as the name suggests the band usually leans into a more nostalgic vein. Focusing on nostalgia, the band is strong in making music that triggers memories of the past.
