Pan
has been a part of my life since I was 7 years old. At the age of 15 I
have learned to grasp the concept of playing a tenor pan and I even began to
love it. From the first day I went behind the tenor I knew it was the
instrument for me. I have become more experienced with it and have
also learned to have patience to become a perfectionist. I believe the
tenor is the most challenging instrument. Sesame Flyers has inspired
me to keep playing and to also love the Caribbean heritage from where pan
evolved. In Sesame Flyers I am taught to keep all personal differences
aside and to concentrate on music only while at practice. I love being
with my band mates, we consider ourselves to be a family where we are all
one band that makes one sound. I love pan I will keep playing it.

As
a child growing up in Trinidad, I remember hearing the grannies in the area
saying the pan yard is no place for a young lady. And now after being
in Sesame Flyers Steel Orchestra it shows how pan around the world has
changed. I have been in the band for over 15 years and everyday you
see or hear something new where a female is getting praised. “Woman is
Boss” and the “Woman on the Base” does not say anything about a man putting
her there. She went there on her own. Pan has come a long way
and females have the ability to do what men can do and even better.
Panorama 2K5 will prove this for Sesame Flyers.
