Antigua & Barbuda, W.I. - West Side Symphony takes the stage in position one, again, having done so in 2023; six steel orchestras are slated to follow in its wake. All seek Panorama glory in the country’s annual national steelband music competition on Saturday August 3, part of Antigua’s Carnival season.
Six of the seven bands are playing selections by Ricardo Drue, in honor of the music legacy of the country’s late soca superstar. Drue passed away unexpectedly at the age of 38, on December 12, 2023.
The defending champion Hells Gate Steel Orchestra will perform last for the evening at position seven. The Antigua Recreation Grounds in the capital of St. John’s is the venue once more, where musical action is expected to begin at 8:00 p.m.
