Trinidad All
Stars On Stage - Moods of Pan 2006 |
St. John's,
Antigua
- When Steel Talks
has been
fortunate to witness and experience live performances of
the celebrated Trinidad All Stars Steel Orchestra in
different venues and on different continents. They
are the consummate professionals. Regardless of
the venue or occasion, one thing remains constant -
Trinidad All Stars is going to give a command
performance.
On Sunday Trinidad All Stars was
the closing act at this year's Moods of Pan
Festival. Again, the group did not disappoint the
enthusiastic fans who gathered at the Deanery Grounds in spite
of the challenging wet ground conditions. They were treated
to vintage All Stars. To the
audience's delight, All Stars moved through a mixed repertoire
of new and popular material, and old favorites, for a
continuous set that lasted just over an hour, showcasing the
orchestra's versatility and musicianship. Moreover
they demonstrated why they are one of those select few world-performing steelbands that can be termed a true "super
group".

Trinidad All
Stars on stage - Moods of Pan 2006 |
Trinidad All Stars' performance was
both engaging and entertaining as the crowd took as much
delight in the musical presentation as the performing
musicians on stage. The group sounded tight in spite
of the overbearing sound system. Included in this set were
All Stars arrangements/songs that have now become standards
and been immortalized among steelband music enthusiasts -
undeniably classics within their own time.
When Steel Talks
can bear witness that these songs are known and recognized by audiences,
regardless of location or hemisphere. |
