New York -
Abstract Entertainment, Inc. has once again put together a
stellar lineup for the annual
Steelpan Jazz Concert at the Home of Jazz at Lincoln
Center. The show is globally recognized as one of the
world’s best of it’s class. This
year’s Saturday June 14th show is again
guaranteed to redefine the musical boundaries of the
Caribbean Jazz genre featuring the steelpan instrument.
The event is famous for showcasing nothing
but the most superb musicians in the world.
This year’s concert will feature three of the finest and most
renowned pan jazz musicians - pannists Andy Narell,
Garvin Blake and Rudy Smith, in
addition to Grammy-award winning composer, musician, producer
Ralph MacDonald.
Within a very short time Abstract
Entertainment’s Steelpan Jazz Concert has developed a fantastic
following in addition to firmly establishing it’s production as
one of Lincoln Center’s best shows. The concert –
which routinely sells out – is held on the Father’s Day weekend,
and this year the venue is the prestigious
Fredrick P.
Rose Hall
at the Home of
Jazz at Lincoln Center. Show time is
7:30 pm, with a complimentary pre-concert reception
beginning at 5:30. Tickets are immediately available at
www.panjazz.com.
Ralph Ramsey, president of Abstract Entertainment is
extremely proud of this year’s lineup as the audience will be
treated to a ‘world first’ as these great musicians have never
been on the same card before. It is a steelpan
enthusiast’s and panjazz dream, as all three musicians hail from
different parts of the world and bring a unique musical
experience to the musical genre and steelpan instrument.
Narell, Greenidge, Blake and MacDonald in the same building,
will no doubt shake the rafters of Lincoln Center.
Abstract Entertainment executives also say
this will indeed be one of those special historical musical
moments when people ask “were you there when...?”
Noted musician,
composer and Heads Up International recording artist
Andy Narell
who currently resides in France, and is well–known worldwide for
his steelpan musical performances, compositions and recordings,
will present
an
acoustic jazz band featuring
the brilliant calypso ambassador “Lord
Relator.” Trinidad’s
Rudy Smith considered by many to be one of the top jazz
panist on the steelpan instrument, will be
part of the Caribbean All Stars featuring
Ralph MacDonald. And New York’s
Garvin Blake whose cutting–edge urban style has raised the
bar on the pan jazz genre, will feature a world cast of
musicians, including celebrated musical composer, arranger and
keyboard great
Frankie McIntosh.
The steelpan music genre has exploded -
attracting and generating large dedicated fans bases all over
the globe. The show is again expected to be sold–out well
in advance, according to the producers, as a result of its
all-star line up, in conjunction with the normal Father’s Day
weekend intrigue and on-going Caribbean Month celebration.
