Basement Recordings’ 2010 New York Pan Yard Recording Schedule

New York, USA - For many years Basement Recordings, Inc. - parent company of PanOnTheNet and When Steel Talks - has visited the pan yards of some of New York’s finest steel orchestras, to capture the phenomenal results of the work put in by the bands as they prepare for New York’s annual steelband panorama competition.  It is critical that bands have the foresight to be chronicled and documented, especially after the euphoria of panorama has come and gone.  Band management and steelpan musicians alike can always reflect on and relive their musical accomplishments when they listen to the fine, state-of-the-art and unparalleled steelband recordings delivered by Basement Recordings.

Sonatas Steel Orchestra, Pan Rebels, Pantonic, D’Radoes and Marsicans are the orchestras whose management recognized - and acted upon - the importance of being musically documented annually without compromise or interruption over the years.  Several other well-known orchestras around the New York area periodically opt-in to be documented and featured on the yearly Basement Recordings’ critically-acclaimed Pan In New York CDs, part of the Pan-4-Life series. 

Pan Rebels and Marsicans are now defunct, but the accomplishments of their players and foresight of their management have resulted in an enviable and superior body of steelpan music attributable to their orchestras - available to the connoisseurs of quality steel orchestra music - for all time.

This year, Basement Recordings continues its tradition of excellence in steelband recordings that are second to none, as the organization ensures that there is accurate capturing, showcasing and release - for music appreciation and documentation - of the musical aptitude of the steel orchestras as they go into the home stretch of musical preparations before the panorama on Saturday September 4 in Brooklyn, New York.

For the first time ever, last year (2009) two versions of the Pan In New York CD were made available.  One featured the excitement of the up-tempo performances of the steel orchestras, and the other “Cooldown” version showcased the “lavuay” or slow versions of the panorama selections, allowing music lovers to savor the finesse and execution of the steelpan musicians and the intricacies of the arrangers’ works.

For the “Pan In New York 2010” CD, Basement Recordings is pleased to provide the anticipated pan yard recording schedule for 2010 - naturally, subject to weather conditions and last minute changes.  Steelpan music lovers synchronize their own schedules with the recording sessions of Basement Recordings, as they are afforded the opportunity at a set time, to hear the entire panorama selection - uninterrupted.  It is also an economic opportunity for the bands as pan lovers move from yard to yard in anticipation and support the respective pan yards they visit.

The tentative recording schedule of the New York steel orchestras for 2010 is below, and subject to change.
